Review: Energizer XP2000 Power Pack

Out of the box

It happens to us all, and with more and more frequency; you're out and about, waiting for a call, when you realise your phone battery is about to die for good. It can be a real nightmare.

This situation can also be just as bad if it's what some see as a less critical item, such as an MP3 player or portable console. If you're facing a long journey on a train, or back of the car, what would you do for a quick charge to get your tunes back?

So. step up the Energizer XP2000. Sure, it's not the first portable charger in the world - but of the ones we've used, it's certainly one of the best. In short, it ticks all the boxes we want ticked in an emergency power back up unit. In long, well, read on.

Initial thoughts

I have to be honest - I was a little disappointed when the Energizer XP2000 popped through the letterbox. The box was an inch deep, more than eight inches high and six inches wide, essentially the size of a chunky DVD box set. How big was this thing going to be? Was it going to stretch the word 'portable' to its limits?

Actually, it did nothing of the sort. Underneath a whole bunch of pointless plastic and half a tree was a lovely little unit more like 3x2x0.5 inches, a velvety carry bag, six adaptors, a short USB cable and a mini instruction manual.

Why all the packaging? Search me. But I expect to make it stand out in superstores. Hopefully, Energizer has gone for something a little less showy for sending out to te likes of Amazon, but we doubt it.

The Energizer power pack comes pre-charged and ready to use. It's a sleek, shiny black plastic affair with four blue LEDs (so you know what charge is left) and a 'start charging, or test how much life is left' button on the front. On top are a reset button, DC5V input and the USB output. That's that - tidy. Once out the box, it's hard not to like.

Usage

I know 'it couldn't be easier' is an overused term but, well, it couldn't be easier to get going with you Energizer XP2000 power pack. There's the pack itself, a USB charging cable and small selection of adaptors to fit various makes and models - this isn't rocket science.

All smartphone chargers should now be microUSB, but the unit is nicely backward compatible - you'll be fine with Apple, LG, Samsung, BlackBerry, HTC, Motorola and Nokia too.

This small number of adaptors is worth noting, as while it covers some major bases it may not be right for everyone. Anyone with an old Sony Ericsson is out luck, for example, while Sony and Nintendo are also notable by their absence.

How to reset a Motorola DCT700 cable box.?

Can anyone tell me how to reset a Motorola digital cable box DCT700/US. Thanks.

The DCT2500 DCT700 has the same functionality as video scaling and other advanced targeting features. IMPORTANT NOTE: The DCT700 is controlled by remote control. The front panel has two screens: a light to indicate that the device lights and hit Send to send a hit in the box (also known as "cold start") reset, DCT700 and erases all flash memory, except the firmware. Because the DCT700 has no buttons on the front, a cold start can make the CAD 6000, remote control or billing system, if supported. To perform a cold start of a Remote: Hold down any button on the remote control while disconnecting and reconnecting on power to the DCT700. After rebooting, the POWER indicator flashes on the front panel. 1.The 3 seconds, press 3 on the remote control. The POWER LED blinks at a lower rate. 2.When 3 seconds, press the 2 key on the remote. The POWER LED blinks at a faster pace. 3.Within 3 seconds, press 8 on the remote control to start a cold reboot. During a cold start, if the appropriate control button is not pressed within 3 seconds, the procedure begins and DCT700 resumes normal operation.
