Stranger Picks Up Soldiers' Lunch At Loveless Cafe
- The famous Loveless cafe is buzzing after a random act of kindness from one customer.It happened during lunch Thursday when a man noticed a group of 35 soldiers getting lunch. The stranger picked up the $500 bill under one condition, he wanted to remain anonymous.
The National Guard members said his gratitude was just in time as they were coming from a fellow soldier's funeral. Thomas Williams Jr. was buried Thursday after a helicopter accident last weekend.
"In their grieving time, I am sure they were talking about all those good times they had with those two soldiers that died in that helicopter crash and some stranger comes along and decides to spend $500 dollars. I'm sure it warmed their hearts," said Staff Sgt. Michael Dilback, a customer at the Loveless on Friday.
The staff and customers said while they may not know the man's name, it's unlikely they will forget his story.
"It was just one of those moments it was absolutely one of those moments that will kind of give you a big lump in your throat," said Loveless Café manager Cheryl Cook.
The stranger also picked up the bill of another military table and two police officers.

Whenever I go to Loveless, I fall into the "chicken tenders" mindset and order the same thing each time. This dish is much better than chicken tenders though, it's a pit-smoked turkey breast with barbecue cranberry sauce, served over cornmeal cakes. I really should expand my horizons, but if I'm sitting down at a table, it's hard to deny.
