Says model Krithika Babu, “I have had long tresses for ages now and am a bit bored of it. The ‘shag’ has come in at the right time, and it’s something that I feel excited about going in for. It is not overtly feminine like some styles and goes perfectly well with the casual jeans and tee/ganjee look. This weather too demands an uncomplicated hairstyle such as the shag.”

Contemporary dancer Nayana Bhat went in for this haircut just before her trip to Amsterdam. “I was craving for a totally different hairstyle. I instructed my hairdresser to ‘go crazy!’ and told him that I ‘wanted hair all over the place’. I loved what I got! It was a total wash and wear hairstyle. You can happily step out without combining your hair and it won’t show.” She adds, “You would think that it doesn’t suit traditional wear, but I have sported sarees and sulwars, and carried off the look.”
