•  Smoke-n-Thunder Jet shows: On the taxiway you can hear the roar of the jet engine, the deafening booms of the afterburner shock, and the billowing clouds of smoke as Bill Braack, the driver, moves slowly past the crowd, he engages the afterburner and 20 foot flames shoot out the back of the engine. At the end of the runway he throttles up the car, engages the afterburner and releases the brakes and shoots down the runway approaching speeds of 370 mph and experiencing 4.5 G’s. • Navy East Coast F-18 Super Hornet Demonstration: The US Navy F/A-18 E and F Super Hornet is one of the Navy’s premier fighter planes. Manufactured by Boeing, the Super Hornet is about 25 percent larger than its predecessor, flies greater ranges with heavier payloads, and has more powerful engines. The Super Hornet demo is an exciting showcase of this aircraft’s capability. • B-1B Lancer Bomber: Carrying the largest payload of both guided and unguided weapons in the Air Force inventory, the multi-mission B-1 is the backbone of America’s long-range bomber force. It can rapidly deliver massive quantities of precision and non-precision weapons against any adversary, anywhere in the world, at any time. This great aircraft will grace the skies each day at the air show performing a series of fly-by’s in both of its wing formations. The B-1 is capable of speeds up to Mach 1.2.

New terminal unveiled at Peoria International Airport - World ...

The H-shaped terminal building features 40-foot-tall ceilings. It also includes a single floor for ticket check-in, boarding gates, luggage retrieval and car rental. Dining options are incorporated on both sides of security.

The terminal also features enhanced security and an expanded concourse that will be able to accommodate more planes. Windows are featured in the upper limits of the building to allow natural light.

About $42 million of the terminal project was financed through local tax bonds; about $12.6 million is being paid through FAA entitlement and discretionary dollars; $6.3 million through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act; $3 million through passenger facility fees paid when booking flights; and less than $100,000 from the state of Illinois.

An estimated $5.5 million of the total will be used to demolish the old terminal building surrounding the five-story tower in the middle, where the Federal Aviation Administration's airport traffic controller systems are located. Airport officials are about to complete a feasibility study at the cost and necessity of moving the tower elsewhere around the airfield.
